One of the country’s most-loved retail chains is finally coming to Far North Queensland after 28 years of anticipation.
With more than 110 stores across Australia and New Zealand, beauty giant MECCA will open its first Far North Queensland store in Cairns, delighting makeup fans across the region.
MECCA has developed a cult-like following since its Melbourne opening in 1997, with Far North devotees travelling across the state to get their hands on the highly coveted products.
MECCA announced the planned opening of the Cairns store on Friday, May 23 through a job posting to Workday:
“We’re beyond excited to welcome beauty lovers to our brand-new MECCA Cairns store, landing soon in tropical North Queensland!
“Set across 375 square metres with eight dedicated makeup chairs, this stunning new space is designed for travellers and locals alike.
“At MECCA Cairns, we’re bringing our signature beauty experience to every kind of journey, offering moments of magic, self-care and connection in between adventures.”
Cairns Central spokeswoman Louise Struber could not confirm if the new MECCA store would open in the CBD shopping centre, but said fans should keep their eyes peeled.
“While we cannot discuss individual tenant lease agreements at this time, we look forward to sharing exciting updates about new retailers at Cairns Central as soon as they are confirmed,” Ms Struber said.
MECCA is seeking expressions of interest for management roles at the Cairns stores for positions including store manager, floor manager and zone manager.
