Consistency on execution and rewarding defensive efforts was the key for Colac’s unbeaten start to the season.
The Tigers made short work of Bell Park, beating the Dragons 55-41 to improve to 3-0 in the GFNL.
Co-coach Jessie Lang said the side was getting better each week.
“It’s nice to be winning to start the season, it certainly feels as though we’re starting to gel more each week,” she said.
“Hopefully we can keep pushing forward and improving.
“We’ve been working on our execution and rewarding our defensive efforts and converting, so to see the scoring trend up each week is showing results for our effort at training.
“We’re really pleased with the effort the girls have put in to keep getting better.”
38 goals to Tiger shooter Michelle Winch helped give the Tigers an early lead, before Colac was able to pull away with the win in the second half.
“We were really trying to extend the lead each quarter, that was our goal coming into this one after a couple of closer games,” Lang said.
“Sometimes we tend to run out of legs late in games so we’ve been focused on really pushing the boat out a bit.”
In other results, Newtown & Chilwell continued its stellar start to the season with a 72-47 win over Geelong West.
St Albans were too strong for Leopold 55-31 and Lara saluted 44-23 over Grovedale.
St Joseph’s and South Barwon round out the round today.
