THE children and step-children of Joe Korp have agreed to settle their differences over the estate of their late father, court documents reveal.

The latest chapter in the chilling family saga that started with the "body in the boot" case will be played out in the Supreme Court.

Joe Korp was facing a charge of the attempted murder of his wife Maria when he took his own life on the day of her funeral in August 2005.

According to the documents there are many competing claims on his estate, believed to be worth several hundred thousand dollars.

But Gust Korp, the executor of his estate, and Stephen and Mia Leonie Korp, Joe's children from his first marriage, and Maria's daughter Laura Martens De Gois have agreed to a compromise.

Gust Korp says he needs to go to court for approval of the family settlement because it affects the interests of a 15-year-old, who cannot be named. The boy is the only child of Joe and Maria.

According to a motion filed in the Supreme Court Joe's brother Kevin, who is the litigation guardian of the boy, and the stepchildren "have agreed to compromise the various claims against the estate and consequently no proceedings have been issued against the estate."

"The settlement of the threatened claims may affect the entitlements of (the 15-year-old)."

Channel 9 is filming a drama of the Korp story with Rebecca Gibney and Vince Colosimo playing Maria and Joe Korp and Maya Elliot playing his mistress, Tania Herman, who admitted attempting to murder the mother of two.

The documents also reveal that Gust Korp has launched an appeal in the Court of Appeal against the court-ordered will of Maria Korp and the defendant in the case is her daughter, Laura.

The application is expected to be heard early next year.
