A FORMER first aid officer at a prestigious Melbourne school has been sentenced to more than five years' jail for sexually abusing eight boys.
Cameron Tweeddale Smith, 26, a former staff member at Brighton Grammar School, was jailed for five years and two months but will be eligible for parole in two years and four months.
Smith, a former sick bay attendant at the school, pleaded guilty to abusing eight students, including several boys he molested while giving massages.
In sentencing, County Court judge Sue Pullen described Smith's offending as "very serious'', severely damaging the lives of his victims and their families.
"The damage to the victims is profound,'' she said.
"It could affect their educational opportunities, career opportunities might be lost and (also) their capacity to form intimate relationships.''
Smith stood impassively while he was sentenced.
