Sofia's Pizza House in Camberwell targeted in shooting

UPDATE 5pm: BULLET holes have been discovered in the front window of a pizza restaurant in Camberwell.

UPDATE 5pm: BULLET holes have been discovered in the front window of a pizza restaurant in Melbourne's east.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed several shots had been fired into the window of Sofia's Pizza House in Burke Rd, Camberwell, overnight.

The restaurant owners notified police this morning that the shop window had been hit with bullets.

Attending police found spent cartridges nearby.

Detectives sealed off Mayston St from Burke Rd while they searched the area.

It is understood the shop was empty at the time and no-one has been reported injured.

But despite the report a person believed to be the manager of the restaurant denied knowledge of the incident when contacted by the Herald Sun

"That’s not true,’’ he said. "It’s something to do with the street. There was a police chase or something and they left a long time ago. It has nothing to do with us.’’
