A man’s body has been found in a public park in Cairns by a dog walker, authorities have confirmed. Here’s what we know.

A man’s body has been found in a public park in Cairns.

It is understood a dog walker found the young man unresponsive at Manoora’s Murray St Park sometime before 10.30am on January 1.

Police attended the scene but were unable to confirm the victim’s age.

A police spokesman said the man’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

The tragedy comes after the death of a 10-year-old Rocky Point boy on January 1 after he sustained injuries in a car accident two weeks ago.

A Biboohra woman also sustained critical injuries during a house fire about 7am on January 1.

The woman was taken to Cairns Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
