An Australia rapper says his wife is “distraught” after video emerged of the woman pushing a concertgoer off the stage at Gilligan's nightclub on Sunday night.
Footage supplied to the Cairns Post shows Blake Turner, known by the name ChillinIT, dancing on stage as a young woman at the front of the crowd climbed onto the platform.
She was then pushed by the rapper’s partner Natasha Rayner, who appeared from the side of stage.
The push had enough force to send the woman off the stage and back into the crowd.
The incident was later confirmed by the rapper in an Instagram message shared with the Cairns Post which said his wife was “distraught” about the incident.
“No one should rush a stage and the young girl, everyone felt for, but my wife reacted out of instinct. I shut the show down to get her medical attention and physically put her on an ambulance. I then also attended to my wife who was distraught.
“I am a father, and care for my family and fans.”
He said that he would ignore people who had “slandered” him online over the incident.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed a woman in her 20s was transported to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition after sustaining a head injury at the location.
She has been discharged.
In a statement a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police were aware of an incident at Gilligan's on Sunday, March 31.
“No complaint has been made. Investigations are continuing, anyone with information or further vision is urged to contact police.”
Gilligan’s and ChillinIT were contacted for comment.
