A woman has been injured and a man has been charged following an alleged assault on a popular Cairns walking track.

A woman has been injured and a man has been charged following an alleged assault on a popular Cairns walking track.
Police have charged a 32-year-old Bungalow man following an alleged assault in Edge Hill on, Friday February 21.
It will be alleged the man approached a 35-year-old woman and hit her in the arm, before fleeing on foot.
“I was walking up (the trail) and a guy came down and said a woman had been assaulted,” Mr Rich said.
“When I got to the bottom of the trail, (the alleged offender) had been arrested.”
The woman, who received minor injuries, notified an off-duty-police officer who was running past, who was able to quickly locate and arrest the man.
He was charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 10.
