A woman has allegedly blown almost five times the legal limit after her car jumped a centre island and crashed into a tree.

A woman has allegedly blown almost five times the legal limit after her car jumped a centre island and crashed into a tree.

About 1pm on December 28, 2022, a 53-year-old Bingil Bay woman was driving home and allegedly crashed her vehicle on the corner of Alexander and Cutten streets.

The vehicle jumped a centre island and crashed into a tree resulting in the driver’s airbag deploying.

She allegedly left the scene of the traffic crash and called police to report her vehicle as stolen.

Upon police arrival, she allegedly admitted to driving the vehicle.

A breath test was conducted, and as a result of that test she was transported to Mission Beach police station for further testing.

It will be alleged she returned a reading of 0.247 per cent BAC.

She was issued with a notice of immediate suspension and a notice to appear at the Tully Magistrates Court on January 19 for driving without due care and High Range drink drive.

Queensland Ambulance Service officers attended the police station to ensure she had not sustained any serious injuries from the traffic crash.

In a separate incident, A 54-year-old Silkwood woman was intercepted on Ernest Street around 8.30pm on December 29.

It will be alleged the woman returned a positive roadside drug test.

It will be further alleged officers located a quantity of methylamphetamine.

She was charged with one count each of possessing a dangerous drug, supplying a dangerous drug and possessing anything for use in the commission of crime defined in part two.

The relevant samples from the drug test have been forwarded to a laboratory testing facility for scientific analysis.

She is scheduled to appear at the Innisfail Magistrates Court on May 20.
