Weed spraying unit involved in two vehicle crash in Portsmith

Emergency services have responded to a fender bender, involving a road maintenance crew, on a major Cairns connecting road.

Emergency services were called to a rear-end collision involving a mobile weed spraying unit and a white SUV on Ray Jones Road in Portsmith around 11am on Monday morning.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman confirmed no one in either vehicle had been entrapped and everyone had safely exited their vehicles at the time of the crash.

Queensland Ambulance services said one man in his twenties was taken to hospital in a stable condition with facial injuries.

According to a Queensland Police spokeswoman, three lanes of traffic were closed for roughly half an hour while QFES worked to remove the vehicles from the road.

All lanes are now reopened and the accident has been cleared.
