Two charged with alleged torture of associate at Koah

Two men will face torture charges in relation to the repeated and brutal assault of man in Far North Queensland. Police allege the victim was stabbed in the legs and struck in the head.

Two man have been charged in relation to the alleged torture of a man at Koah on the Atherton Tablelands.

Two men will face torture charges in relation to the repeated and brutal assault of man at Koah which police allege involved stabbing the victim in the legs and striking him in the head.

Officers from the Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch on Monday charged two men following ongoing investigations into an incident police allege took place at Koah on August 28.

Police allege a 57-year-old man from Koah on the Atherton Tablelands and a 41-year-old Kuranda man were involved in the repeated and continued assault of a 47-year-old man.

The Koah man was taken into custody following a raid on a Kookaburra Close address at 1pm on Monday.

The victim was held against his will during which time he was stabbed in his legs and struck in the head, police will allege in court.

The victim was treated for multiple injuries at Cairns Hospital before investigations revealed all men were known to each other.

The 57-year-old man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, torture, wounding, deprivation of liberty, enter dwelling, possession of utensils, possession of dangerous drug, and four counts of assault and five counts of fail to appear.

He was refused bail and will appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 1.

A 41-year-old Kuranda man was charged with one count of wounding, torture, deprivation of liberty, armed robbery, possession of utensils, possession of a dangerous drug, enter dwelling, and two counts of assault.

He was refused bail and will reappear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 8.
