Tributes for Rocky Point man Adam Hoyes after fatal car crash near Weipa in Cape York

A Rocky Point father, mine worker and loveable larrikin will be farewelled in Townsville after he was fatally injured when the LandCrusier he was driving rolled near Weipa.

A Rocky Point father, mine worker and loveable larrikin will be farewelled in Townsville after rolling his Landcrusier in a single vehicle crash late Monday night.

Adam Hoyes was driving along Kerr Point Road on June 3 when his Toyota left the road and rolled.

The 44-year-old was taken in a critical condition to Townsville University Hospital where he fought for his life for two days.

Tragically on June 5 Mr Hoyes finally succumbed to his injuries and died.

He leaves behind children, a brother and a best friend in wife Nat Hoyes.

“Adam tragically passed away after he was in a horrific car accident late on Monday night in our home town of Weipa,” she stated.

“We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts are prayers.

“We will arrange funeral plans to take place in Townsville, with details to follow.”

Messages of support and condolence have streamed in following the passing of the well-known resources sector worker while mates shared memories of the “mischief” they used to get up to back in the day.

“Thinking of you all at this devastating time, I hope that the love and support of your family, friends and the Weipa community provides strength and comfort to you all,” Narelle Dealy posted to social media.

“Memories of the mischief we got up to I’ll never forget ... RIP mate,” Michael Harvey posted.

Mr Hoyes’ death follows another fatal crash at Machans Beach on Wednesday night.

The two most recent road deaths bring the Far North fatal road toll to 10 this year, which is one more than at the same time last year.
