Tributes for 16-year-old killed by crocodile off Saibai Island
A junior Cairns footballer is being remembered as an athletic, curious and kind-hearted young man after the 16-year-old was killed by a crocodile north of Queensland.

Edward “Baidham” Morrison Warusam is being remembered as an athletic, curious and kind-hearted young man after the 16-year-old footballer was killed by a crocodile.
The teen was taken by a crocodile on April 18 in waist-deep water off the Saibai Island.
It’s understood the dinghy he and the 13-year-old he was with tried to swim to shore after the dinghy he was in ran into engine trouble.
The 13-year-old made it to shore but Edward did not.
Known to many by his cultural name Baidham, Edward has been remembered as an athletic young man who competed in events for his school and played junior rugby league for the Edmonton Storm.
Edmonton Junior Rugby League club president Clayton Rowe said Edward would be missed.
“Edmonton Junior Rugby League and community are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Edward and would like to offer our deepest condolences to all of Edward’s family and friends at this sad time,” he said.
“He was a talented footballer who will be sadly missed.”
His mother, Kemana Kusu, a single mother of nine children, remembered him as a curious soul, always carrying a smile that brightened the lives of those around him.
“(He was) A very humble and kind-hearted young lad,” she wrote.
“Always smiling and eager to help anyone who crossed his path.
“In this time of difficulty as we all know one is not prepared to face life’s sudden tragedies,” she said.
“I am humbly seeking assistance in aide to help my children and I, endeavour through this difficult time.”
A GoFundMe has been started to help his family.
At the time of writing the campaign had already raised $5291 of its $10,000 goal.
