Predicting the Bali bombing, infamous cyclones and reading for Hollywood stars should put the sceptics to rest, according to seven of the most in-demand psychics in Cairns.
Whether or not you believe in their abilities, there are many that do — Far North Queensland included.
Some say they have successfully predicted some of the most horrific world events, while others claim to help Hollywood stars navigate their complicated lives.
There are some of the most in demand psychics in Cairns.
Alain Baillon
Location: Oxley St, Edge Hill
Years in the profession: 37
Speciality: Psychic healing, clairvoyance, numerology and tarot cards
A modern psychic, Alain Baillon said mediums in Cairns have transcended past the old fortune-telling stereotype that comes to mind.
“The way we do work these days is slightly different,” he said.
Mr Baillon said nowadays he specialises in helping people with their personal development through psychic healing.
“Covid has put a lot of people down emotionally, financially, spiritually,” he said.
“The last two and a half years, I’ve helped people relocate and find new jobs.”
At the height of Mr Baillon’s claims was predicting the infamous Cyclone Yasi.
“I predicted that really down to the day it happened,” he said.
“When you do your readings you tap into the information from the spirit world.”
Alison Maiden
Location: 4/161 Aumuller St, Bungalow
Years in the profession: 42
Speciality: Psychic medium, future readings
Starting from the age of five, Alison Maiden has been able to tap into the spiritual world and connect with loved ones who have died.
Her mother, who was also a psychic medium, fostered her growth and she now has 42 years in the industry.
“Here in Cairns I did a reading for a lady who’s son (died by suicide), she always thought it was accidental but I didn’t know that prior to the reading,” she said.
“First thing he told me was it was accidental, for her it was incredible validation and gave her a lot of peace.
“(Another) lady who lost a baby, a stillborn child, I saw her as a grown woman at 32 years old and the lady said that’s exactly how many years she’s been gone.
“I was also honoured to go to Los Angeles before Covid and read for Hollywood stars over there … that was a big moment for me.”
Christopher St John
Location: Night Markets, Shop 22, Abbott St, Cairns
Years in the profession: 27
Speciality: Clairvoyant, tarot cards, numerology, astrology
If there’s any cure to scepticism, it could be some of the unbelievable predictions clairvoyant Christopher St John has made.
Mr St John says he anticipated the 2002 Bali Bombing.
“There were two girls I told not to go to Bali and there was the bomb and explosion that night, I saw a death card,” he said.
“They ended up cancelling their trip, went to Darwin, got pissed, and didn’t hear what happened.”
When he’s not predicting international disasters, Mr St John said his clientele are those wanting to validate that they’re moving in the right direction in their life and choices.
“Professional and business people come in to see if their latest project will work, doctors, surgeons, quantum physicists,” he said.
David Chambers
Location: Brown St, Woree
Years in the profession: 23
Speciality: Palmistry, numerology, tarot cards, psychometry and medium
With psychic abilities peeking through from his childhood years, David Chambers has spent his life refining and practising various psychic abilities.
Towards the end of 2019, Mr Chambers began reading similar futures for all his clients, seeing joblessness but also a stream of money for the near future.
A sign of something looming on the horizon.
“That was when Covid happened … I could see this big thing was coming,” he said.
“For me, it’s a bit like when you read a book and the author is describing the scene it’s almost like I can see it.”
Eva Ronning
Location: Hudson St, Whitfield
Years in the profession: 14
Speciality: Healing, tarot cards, numerology
After a life-altering moment in 2008, Eva Ronning began her deep dive into her spiritual journey.
Describing herself as “medically intuitive”, Ms Ronning said she has been able to identify and diagnose illnesses which was a continuation from her years working as a nurse and midwife.
With too many predictions to list, she said what always astounded her were the little moments in life.
Overseas with a horrible toothache, Ms Ronning said she opened up a spiritual book while waiting at the dentist’s office.
“The first thing I read was a phrase ‘the tooth needs to come out’,” she said.
“There’s no coincidences when you’re on the spiritual path.”
Steve ’Spiritboy’
Location: Hudson St, Whitfield
Years in the profession: 14
Speciality: Tarot cards, reiki
Acting as a vessel for healing energy and to help spirits connect with people, Steve Spiritboy said his spiritual journey began at 29 when he noticed he was unconsciously doing reiki.
“I’m also developing mediumship,” he said.
Mr Spiritboy said he doesn’t retain memory of most of his readings, as there’s too many to capture.
“There’s probably hundreds and hundreds of stories … people that come in are policemen, businessmen, my expertise is relationships and counselling,” he said.
“People walk in devastated and they walk out bubbly and smiley.”
Mr Spiritboy did however recall an elderly woman that came up from Townsville and he immediately saw hessian bags.
“I told her I’m seeing hessian and it didn’t make sense to me but she said she just went to her mum’s funeral in Townsville and was talking about making clothing and hessian bags when she was younger,” he said.
“They’re short flashes but it makes sense to them, it’s validation.”
Yvette Manning
Location: Charles St, Cairns North
Years in the profession: 41
Speciality: Tarot cards, coaching
Growing up in a mystical family, and now raising gifted children herself, Yvette Manning knew she had psychic intuition from an early age.
In 2002 Ms Manning claimed three months prior to the Bali bombing, she had an extremely vivid dream of the incident occurring.
“The telly was on and I had the volume off … and I saw the images and was like ‘this is exactly like my dream’,” she said.
Ms Manning recalled when the family cat died and how she tried to bury it while her children slept and her eldest daughter woke up crying and saying the cat died.
Her youngest daughter also insisted on getting dressed up one day saying her grandparents were going to visit them today, and a few hours later they showed up on the doorstep surprising the family.
“I’m a big believer that everybody has intuition and you have to tap into it and not ignore it,” she said.
