A man has been charged in relation to a house fire in Flying Fish Point

A man has been charged by detectives from Innisfail Criminal Investigation Branch in relation to a fire which set a house ablaze in Flying Fish Point early Sunday morning.
A 55-year-old Innisfail man was located at a Flying Fish Point address at approximately 8am on April 9 and taken into custody in relation to a house fire from earlier that day.
Police allege the fire, which was responded to at 5.55am on April 9, was deliberately lit by him.
The fire destroyed the property and three people were evacuated from scene without injuries.
The man was charged with one count each of arson (domestic violence offence) and contravention of a domestic violence order.
Investigations are ongoing and police have asked anyone with information or relevant CCTV or dashcam footage in the area at the time to come forward, quoting reference number: QP2300592355.
Early Sunday morning, three people had a horror start to Easter Sunday after having to escape a house fire at Flying Fish Point, south of Cairns, in the early hours on Sunday morning.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman confirmed four fire crews attended the house fire at 5.55am.
“The house was well engulfed and roof partially collapsed,” the spokesman said.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed the occupants had self-evacuated and were unharmed.
“There are no reports of burns or smoke inhalation from any of the occupants,” the spokeswoman said.
