Woman killed and man critically injured after single-vehicle crash on Kennedy Highway in Atherton
A 91-year-old woman from Cairns has died after a minibus crash at the corner of Wongabel Rd and Kennedy Highway, south of Atherton.

A 91-year-old Yorkeys Knob woman has died following a single-vehicle traffic crash on the Kennedy Highway, south of Atherton on Saturday afternoon.
An 89-year-old Yorkeys Knob man was identified as the driver of the vehicle.
Police said the man sustained severe injuries and was transported to the Atherton Hospital before being flown to Cairns base.
Initial investigations indicated the two were driving a Landrover Minibus, which was travelling northbound along the highway before it rolled at the corner of Wongabel Road.
The 91-year-old woman sustained critical injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
The highway was closed in both directions between Wongabel and Hastie roads and was reopened at 8:18pm.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash and appeal to anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
Emergency crews responded to a serious car crash on the Kennedy Highway in the Atherton Tablelands.
At 2.31pm Queensland Ambulance Services were called to the single vehicle crash on the Kennedy Highway at the corner of Wongabel Rd.
At 4pm, a QAS spokeswoman said one person was trapped in the vehicle but had since been extracted from the car and taken to Atherton Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The patient sustained back and arm injuries and a second occupant was understood to have been in a critical condition.
The highway was closed in both directions between Wongabel and Hastie roads.
A police spokesman said traffic delays were to be expected in the area and motorists were urged to use alternative routes.
The crash follows a fatal accident that claimed the life of Atherton nurse Jane Wheeler near the Mareeba drive-in last Friday.
