Seven teenagers from Cairns and Townsville have been charged with vehicle theft and dangerous driving, including a 12-year-old, authorities have confirmed.

Seven teenagers from Cairns and Townsville, including a 12-year-old, have been charged with vehicle theft and dangerous driving.
Cairns Property Crime Squad and the Tactical Crime Squad charged seven people with a total of 28 property offences, linked to the alleged theft of a motor vehicle from Townsville.
Police allege a blue Toyota Camry sedan was stolen from a Townsville home about 6pm on Thursday, May 22.
A 14-year-old Townsville boy was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle at night and in company, stealing, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, and wilful damage.
A 16-year-old Condon girl was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, and possess drug utensil.
A 12-year-old Condon boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
All three appeared in the Cairns Children’s Court on Saturday and were remanded in custody to reappear in the Townsville Children’s Court on Monday, May 26.
A 15-year-old Gordonvale boy was charged with one count each of stealing, enter dwelling and commit, and attempted enter dwelling with intent in company at night.
He appeared in the Cairns Children’s Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to reappear on Tuesday, May 27.
A 13-year-old Parramatta Park boy was charged with one count of stealing.
He appeared in the Cairns Children’s Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to reappear on June 12.
A 16-year-old Bentley Park boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 28.
A 17-year-old Earlville boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on June 11.
It is further alleged the group of teens drove to Cairns before picking up passengers, then drove dangerously around Cairns, running several red lights, while the occupants hung out of windows and travelled on the wrong side of the road at speed.
It is alleged members of the public and police were forced to take evasive action to avoid being struck by the vehicle.
Tactical Crime Squad officers arrested two teenagers on Mulgrave Road with the help of Cairns City Camera Safe operators, other police and triple-0 calls from members of the public.
The vehicle was later dumped near an Earlville shopping centre and the remaining occupants were arrested by police about 4am on Saturday.
