A man who visited caravan parks across Queensland allegedly used a mobile phone to illegally record a woman at a Far North Queensland accommodation facility, as police call for potential victims to come forward.
Detectives from the Mossman Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 42-year-old man after he allegedly recorded a woman without her consent in a private place.
Police are alleging the man used a phone to record a woman at a Cape Tribulation accommodation facility about 9pm on November 13.
Officers further allege the woman confronted the man, before he fled the facility.
Two hours later police located the man on Mossman Daintree Rd and he was taken into custody where he was charged with one count of observations or recordings in breach of privacy.
However, upon reviewing the man’s movements, police believe there may be other victims and are appealing for information that may be able to assist their ongoing investigations.
It is understood the alleged offender visited and stayed in caravan parks, campsites, and other budget accommodation in a number of areas across the state.
They include: Noosa Heads between September 12-17, Seventeen Seventy Beach between September 20-28, Airlie Beach between September 28 to October 1, Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay and Townsville between October 1 and November 2, Cairns between November 3-4, Port Douglas between November 4-5 and Cape Tribulation between November 7-13.
Detective Senior Constable Kevin Spies from the Mossman CIB said investigations were ongoing.
“This alleged behaviour is not tolerated in our community, and we are appealing for public assistance to ensure all potential offending is fully investigated,” he said.
The alleged offender is due to appear at the Mossman Magistrates Court on December 4.
