Mission Beach, Cairns businesses added to list of exposure sites

QUEENSLAND Health has issued a public health alert and new contact tracing locations in Cairns and Mission Beach.

The exposure sites have been listed after a person, now located in the Northern Territory, tested positive to Covid-19.

A Queensland Health statement said the person was infectious in the Queensland community and has since left the state.

“We are asking all Queenslanders to regularly monitor the list of exposure venues on the Queensland Health website and follow the public health advice,” the statement said.

“A reminder for all Queenslanders – if you have any COVID-19 symptoms at any time, no matter how mild, you should immediately get tested for COVID-19.”

It comes after traces of Covid-19 were also detected in sewage at the Marlin Coast Wastewater Treatment Plant last week.

The exposure sites have been classified as a mixture of casual and low risk contacts.

CASUAL CONTACTS

Jetstar flight JQ960 from Adelaide to Cairns on Monday, October 25, from 6am to 9.15am

Mission Beach Woolworths on October 27 from 2.30-3.30pm

Cotton On and Kmart at Cairns Central Shopping Centre on October 29 from 10.30am to 11.30am

Queensland Health advises anyone who has been to a casual contact location at the relevant times mustimmediately travel by private transport directly to your home or accommodation and quarantine, get tested at your earliest opportunity, and continue to quarantine until you receive a negative result.

People must enter their details into the contact tracing form.

The public will not be contacted by Queensland Health unless additional information about the exposure changes the risk level, and people are advised to continue to monitor for symptoms, If you become symptomatic, get tested and isolate until you receive a negative result.

LOW-RISK CONTACTS

Anyone at Gate 20 at Cairns Domestic Airport between 9.45am and 10.15am on Monday, October 25

Anyone at Cairns Central between 10.30am and 11.30am on Friday, October 29

Anyone Gate 21 at Cairns Domestic Airport from 12-12.40pm on Friday, October 29

Queensland Health advises that people who have been to a low risk contact location at the relevant times are considered a low risk contact and must do the following:

People must get tested at their earliest convenience but they do not need to quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

People must continue to monitor for symptoms.

If you become symptomatic get tested and isolate until you receive a negative result.
