A man has been rushed to hospital after a car crashed through a kindergarten fence.

Emergency services responded to reports of single-vehicle car crash on Trinity Beach Road, at the C & K Community Kindergarten.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed a man in his 60s was transported to Cairns Hospital.

“The driver, a male in his 60s, was transported to hospital querying a medical condition,” the spokesman said.

The car ploughed through the wooden fence and into the children’s playground, however all children were inside at the time.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman confirmed no one from the kindergarten had been injured in the event.
“It doesn’t look like any staff or children in the kindergarten were injured,” the spokeswoman said.

A kindergarten employee confirmed the children were uninjured.

“We didn’t even notice it,” she said.

A parent, who did not wish to be named said it was lucky no one got hurt.

“It definitely could’ve been a lot worse,” he said.

Tyson Backman, a receptionist at Trinity Beach Pacific apartments, opposite the kindergarten, said some of his guests had reported a loud crash shortly after 1pm.

“They came and told me about it, they said they’d heard a loud banging around and thought at first it might have been a dump truck before they saw what had happened,” Mr Backman said.

“I’m not sure if they’re the ones that called the cops but it took them (emergency services) a while to get here.”
