Funeral to be held for Gordonvale man Danny Innes

A final send-off will be held on Tuesday for a passionate Harley Davidson collector who was killed in a freak motorcycle accident in Gordonvale last week.

A send-off for a long-time Gordonvale local who died in a freak motorcycle accident will be held on Tuesday.

On May 8 Danny Innes was involved in a fatal collision with a garbage truck on Campbell St, Gordonvale.

He was 60-years-old.

Gordonvale local Jacinta Otto fondly remembered her interactions with Mr Innes who she said was well-known as a significant contributor of local events.

“When the old Gordy (pub) used to be open I used to do raffles and he would buy tickets from me,” she said.

“He was such a lucky person in those things and he wore his heart on his sleeve for his mates in Gordonvale.

“He has a lot of motorbikes, he has two Harley Davidsons and he had an old style Holden ute.”

Ms Otto said the delivery driver would be dearly missed by the tight-knit Gordonvale community.

The Fisher Rd resident will be farewelled at a funeral service at the Heritage Brady Funeral chapel on Tuesday.

Well-known among the Gordonvale community Mr Innes was a passionate motorcycle and classic car enthusiast.

He is survived by wife Anny, siblings Debra and Paul, as well as children-in-law April, Jessica, Joel and Carlie.

Ms Otto said mates would take part in a motorcycle ride from the chapel to the Gordonvale Monumental Cemetery, where Mr Innes would be buried.

Mr Innes was the eighth person to lose their life on Far North roads since the beginning of the year according to the latest Transport and Main Roads weekly crash report.

Police have stated that Forensic Crash Unit investigations into the death of Mr Innes were continuing and no charges, to date, have been laid in relation to the incident.
