Emergency services were called to a number of incidents north of Cairns including a vehicle fire which blocked a major highway.
At 1.58pm emergency crews including Queensland Fire Service and Queensland Police Service were called to Mossman Mount Molloy Rd where an SUV “well-involved” in fire had blocked traffic in both directions.
A QFS spokeswoman said one crew responded to the incident about 2.15pm arriving to the vehicle, which was towing a trailer with another vehicle on it.
She said the trailer was not damaged.
The spokeswoman said the crews had the fire extinguished relatively quickly, helped clean up the scene and left by 3.30pm.
A QPS spokesman said the incident had blocked the highway in both directions and the Department of Transport and Main Roads as well as the local Douglas Shire officers were directing traffic.
No injuries were reported.
An image posted to Facebook showed the front end of what appears to be an SUV, completely engulfed with social media users questioning whether a battery issue caused the fire.
The QFS spokeswoman said the cause was unknown and was not being investigated by the department, with the incident no longer active.
And, at 2.29pm emergency services were also called to a car and motorcycle incident at Johnston Rd, Mossman.
