A man charged with filming children in the changing room of the Tobruk Memorial Pool has appeared before a court for the first time.

Corey Ian Cox, a former lifeguard at the pool who has since been dismissed, was originally charged in November with one count of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

On December 6, police revealed he had been charged with a further 10 offences.

Mr Cox is currently on bail for all 11 charges, including four of indecent treatment of a child under 16, two of making observations or recordings in breach of privacy genital or anal region, and five counts of making observations or recordings in breach of privacy.

He appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court before Magistrate Mandy Bowen on Thursday.

Defence lawyer Tracy Brown from Resolute Legal told the court Mr Cox was facing fresh charges before the court and his bail would need to be re-examined in light of those.

His matter has been adjourned to January 19, 2023 when his appearance will be excused.

His bail was renewed under the same conditions.
