Cairns car crashes: six people treated at Trinity Park, Gordonvale, Yungaburra

A man is in a life-threatning condition following a single-vehicle crash on a busy Far North highway.

A man is in a life-threatning condition following a single-vehicle crash in Gordonvale on Tuesday evening.

Emergency services responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash into a guard rail on the Bruce Highway at 5.13pm.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed crews were waiting to assess a man in a life-threatening condition.

“He’s currently being extricated from the car,” the spokeswoman said.

“We’re treating him on scene, the intention is to transport him, but we’re waiting for him to be extricated to do a full assessment.”

Motorists were urged to expect delays northbound towards Gordonvale.

A QAS spokeswoman confirmed the man was transported to Cairns hospital around 6.20pm.

It comes after a shocking day on Far North roads, after emergency services responded to three seperate car crashes, with five people treated by paramedics.

Earlier, a man has been treated by paramedics following a single-vehicle rollover near Yungaburra, south-west of Cairns.

A QAS spokesman confirmed crews had assessed one patient with hand injuries following a truck rollover on the Gillies Range Road at 3.50pm.

“We got a call around 4pm for a single truck crash,” the spokesman said.

“Crews are on scene working out what’s best for the patient at this point.”

It is understood the patient was in a stable condition.

Earlier, four people have been assessed by paramedics following two separate car crashes, 10 minutes apart in Cairns.

Emergency service crews responded to reports of two separate single-vehicle crashes on Tuesday morning.

A QAS spokeswoman confirmed crews had assessed two female patients following a single-vehicle rollover on the Captain Cook Highway near Trinity Park at 11.40am.

“Looks like two females we assessed, not injured and declined transport (to hospital),” she said.

QAS also assessed two patients in stable condition after a car crashed into a guard rail on the Bruce Highway in Gordonvale, at 11.30am.

“We’ve assessed a patient in their 20s and a female in her 40s … they’re all stable at this stage,” she said.
