From the likes of Baker Boy, King Stingray and Bumpy, to hot local acts R.3.B and JK-47, Dream Aloud music festival will have something for everyone at Munro Martin Parklands on Saturday, October 5.

The inaugural Dream Aloud festival is part of the Queensland Tropic Trails partnership with Shine on Gimuy.

Local musician Proffit from hip bop band R.3.B said performing at Munro Martin Parklands was a “full circle” moment for the band, whose elders would meet on the grounds.

“It’s going to be very special to us. Can’t wait,” Proffit said.

“This is easily the biggest thing we’ve been part of and to be in this park specifically, I think it’s awesome.”

While Proffit said artists would be watching the show from the sidelines, he was eager to get in with the crowd.

“I probably want to be out in the crowd with everyone else watching the show, not hiding back there,” he said.

“These are our people, the Cairns people. We gotta be out there with them.”

R.3.B, who have been on the Far North music scene for 15 years, blend English, Torres Strait Islander Creole and Cairns Indigenous languages in a unique mix of hip hop and reggae tunes.

“It’ll be something they’ve never seen before, very original. We don’t know what to class our music, it’s hip hop and reggae and nothing out there like it,” he said.

Queensland Tropic Trails kicked off on September 28 and will run until October 13.
