The winner of Thursday night’s $50m Powerball draw has finally been located and contacted after spending three days unaware of their life-changing victory.
A lone division one winner claimed the entire $50m jackpot and was found by an official from The Lott Monday morning.
The NSW mid-north coast resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said they were struggling to come to terms with the overwhelming new riches.
Tull’s Newsagency in Forster sold the winning ticket, with shop manager Vanessa Deland saying staff were “ecstatic” to hear its owner had been found.
“This is fantastic; it’s the biggest win we’ve ever had and it’s great because it’s been a while between wins,” she said.
“There’s been a real buzz around the store and throughout the town since it was announced and it’s fantastic to see.
“We’re over the moon and I hope this win makes all their dreams come true.”
Players in NSW have secured the majority of division one Powerball winning entries during this financial year, boasting seven victors compared to four in Victoria, three in Queensland and two in Western Australia.
The winners have so far pocketed more than $681.7m in prizemoney combined.
