Mr Carroll will also be Minister for Education as well as Minister for Medical Research.

Tim Pallas has retained his position as Treasurer and Minister for Industrial Relations but has also secured the role of Minister for Economic Growth.

Danny Pearson will remain as Assistant Treasurer and Minister for WorkSafe and the TAC (Transport Accident Commission).

He was also given Ms Allan’s former portfolios of transport infrastructure and the suburban rail loop.

Member for Eltham Vicki Ward is the cabinet’s newest face after she was selected to be the Minister for Prevention of Family Violence and Minister for Employment.

Several key portfolios, including planning, police and health, have remained unchanged.

Ms Allan will enter parliament on Tuesday as the second woman to lead the state when the sitting week begins.

She said her policy priorities would be revealed in upcoming days but saw the state’s housing crisis as one of her government’s key challenges.
