Two men have been taken to hospital after a shooting in Tarneit last night, with one man suffering life-threatening injuries.

Two men have been taken to hospital after a shooting at a McDonald’s carpark.

Police responded to reports of gunshots on Friendship Drive in Tarneit in Melbourne’s west just before midnight on Tuesday, but could not find anyone after an initial search of the area.

After combing the area more thoroughly, officers found a man on Tarneit Rd who had an injury to his hand and he was taken to hospital.

Later, a second man was found on Derrimut Rd near a McDonald’s car park with upper body injuries and he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but in a stable condition nonetheless.

The car park was locked down overnight and multiple police officers were on the scene assessing a Mercedes which was apparently damaged.

Police are yet to establish the exact circumstances of the alleged shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
