Emergency services have rushed to a property after a light plane crashed to the ground with two people inside.

Two people have died following a light plane crash in northern NSW.

Emergency services were called to a rural property in Lilydale, about 25km west of Grafton, about 8.50am on Tuesday after receiving reports that a plane had crashed into powerlines.

Police, NSW Ambulance paramedics, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW SES personnel are all at the scene on Winegrove Rd.

“It’s believed two people on the aircraft have died,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Police are working to identify the occupants of the plane.”

Firefighters worked to extinguish a grassfire that had started nearby, putting it out by about 9.45am.

It’s understood police are working with aviation authorities as an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash continues.
