Three people injured after dog attack near Cairns as animals deemed no risk to community

The dogs that attacked three people won’t be removed from their home despite the serious incident, after they were determined not to be a risk to the community.

The dogs that attacked three people have been deemed “not a risk to the community” despite the mauling.

Emergency crews were called to a private property in Gordonvale, near Cairns in Queensland, following reports the trio had been attacked about 7.45am on Wednesday.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed the three people all sustained puncture wounds.

They were each taken to Cairns Hospital for further assessment and remain in a stable condition.

It’s understood a woman and two men were attacked.

A Cairns Council spokesman said council officers attended the private Gordonvale property after being alerted to the dog attack by QAS on Wednesday.

“When council officers arrived at the scene, there was no one at the residence,” he said.

“Officers assessed the site and concluded that the property was secure, and the dogs were suitably contained and therefore not a risk to the community.

“As the incident occurred at a private residence and those involved do not want any further actions to be taken, council will not be pursuing the matter at this time.”

A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed that police were alerted to the incident but weren’t required to attend the property.
