2GB radio host Ray Hadley has welcomed a new granddaughter, making the announcement by sharing a heartwarming photo of the pair online.
Remi Lu Kahurangi is Hadley’s sixth grandchild and is the third child of his eldest daughter Laura, who already has two girls, Ava and Lola, with her husband Brad.
“As regular listeners would know, our family has been eagerly awaiting the birth of another baby,” Hadley said on-air on Friday.
“It’s a little girl.
“I met her for the first time last night and she’s just absolutely gorgeous.”
The baby’s name means “precious one” in Te Re Māori, Hadley told listeners.
“The middle name Lu is a tribute to her mother Laura, who I call Lulu,” he said.
Seemingly not everyone was a fan of the baby’s name, however.
Remi’s five-year-old sister Ava, who had been pushing for the name ‘Rosie’, voiced her own feelings on the subject.
“Why can’t you give her a name that everyone likes?” she said to her Mum.
“She’ll get used to it,” Hadley reassured listeners.
“She’s a funny little kid.”
Hadley is expecting his seventh grandchild in May next year.
