Fire crews and paramedics have rushed to an aerodrome on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast after a small plane crashed.
Emergency services received reports about 10.40am that the light plane had crashed with a pilot on-board.
Two fire crews responded to the incident, arriving on the scene at Caloundra Aerodrome just before 11am.
Firefighters assessed the aircraft, which was found to have no major damage or fuel leaks, and the plane’s fuel supply was shut off.
Police were notified of the incident but were not required to attend.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the pilot was “walking and conscious” when crews arrived and was subsequently taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.
No other people were injured in the incident.
Owned and operated by Sunshine Coast Council, Caloundra Aerodrome covers about 145 hectares and includes two sealed runways.
The aircraft landing ground is used by general aviation-related businesses, light fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, facilitating 40,000 takeoffs and landings each year.
Sunshine Coast Council has been contacted for comment.
