Commuters in Sydney are facing long delays after a truck became stuck in a busy tunnel.
The Lane Cove Tunnel, in the city’s north, was closed after the incident on Wednesday morning.
It was the second time a truck had become stuck on the M2 in just four hours.
All lanes have now reopened but traffic remains heavy.
Another overheight truck had to be removed from the Domain Tunnel entrance in the early hours of this morning.
It comes two days after the NSW government announced it would crack down on overheight trucks, announcing the penalty would be doubled to $4,400 following a spate of recent incidents in Sydney.
Premier Dominic Perrottet said the current penalty was not sufficient to deter drivers from making poor decisions, which were hurting the state’s economy due to long delays on the road.
“The economic cost on our city and state is substantial, so it has to stop, we’re doubling the fines and we’re going to increase the demerit points,” he said.
