Pair rescued after midnight fall into Sydney Harbour on Anzac Day

A man and a teenager have been rescued by police after falling into an icy city harbour on Anzac Day.

Police have mounted a daring early morning rescue after a man and a teenage boy were spotted in chilly Sydney Harbour.

Emergency services were called to Pier 2 at Walsh Bay minutes after midnight on Thursday after reports of two men in the water.

In a statement, police said officers attached to the Sydney City and Marine Area Commands attended to assist the two men.

The duo, aged 14 and 32, are understood to have fallen into the water and were taken “to hospital as a precaution”.

One person was seen by 7News being wrapped in a silver emergency blanket and placed in a stretcher, while another was in a towel.

Located within Port Jackson, Walsh Bay once served as a working port but was converted into apartments and an entertainment area.
