The brother of an NRL star has been hit with a fresh charge after he was arrested over an alleged violent home invasion.

The brother of an NRL star has been hit with a fresh charge after he was arrested over an alleged violent home invasion in Sydney’s inner city.

Troy Anthony Xerri, 32, the brother of Canterbury Bulldogs centre Bronson Xerri, was released on parole late last year after serving two years and four months in prison over a fatal crash that killed a mother of three.

He was released from Macquarie Correctional Centre in November but was rearrested in July over an alleged home invasion.

Police allege he broke into an apartment at Wattle Crescent, Pyrmont on the evening of May 21.

According to court documents, Xerri allegedly attacked the occupant, leaving him with injuries.

He was charged on July 3 with breaking and entering a dwelling and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Earlier this month, Xerri was hit with a fresh charge of assaulting a person intending criminal activity.

His matter was briefly mentioned in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.

It was adjourned until October 3 so he could appear in court alongside several co-accused.

The Merrylands resident has not yet entered a plea and he remains bail refused.

The NSW State Parole Authority revoked Xerri’s parole in relation to the 2019 fatal crash.

Xerri was in 2022 jailed by District Court Judge Leonie Flannery for a maximum of three years and nine months, with a two-year and four-month non-parole period over the crash that killed Joanne Duke.

He had been driving his Toyota HiLux through northwestern Sydney on November 11, 2019 when he lost control.

His ute jumped over the median strip, crossed onto the wrong side of Blaxland Rd, Eastwood, and crashed head-on into a hatchback being driven by Ms Duke.

The 63-year-old was killed and another woman was injured when Xerri’s car collided with a second vehicle before coming to rest on a utility pole.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm,

Xerri will return to court on October 3.
