Next move for former NRL star Sam Burgess revealed

Former NRL star turned assistant coach Sam Burgess has revealed he’s taken on a surprising new role.

Former NRL star Sam Burgess has returned home to England to take on the position of head coach at Warrington Wolves Rugby League Club.

The club heralded his arrival by sharing a picture of the former South Sydney Rabbitohs player and his girlfriend Lucy Graham with the caption: “The Boss has landed!”

“And so it begins,” Ms Graham added on Instagram.

“It’s good to be home”.

The devoted girlfriend shared a photo of Mr Burgess wearing his new uniform to her thousands of followers with two overheated and panting emoji faces.

The couple have been together for nearly a year, and became engaged in June.

His international move comes only weeks after Ms Graham gave birth to a baby girl, who the couple named Robbie.

The young family had been seen enjoying life in Sydney’s eastern suburbs up until the day before they packed up their lives.

Mr Burgess also has two children with his ex-wife, Phoebe Burgess.

He signed a two-year contract with the Warrington Wolves in August after serving as assistant coach for the South Sydney Rabbitohs for more than a year.

Before he turned his hand to coaching, he played 182 games for the side and scored 44 tries.

The English native was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal for man of match following his performance in the 2014 NRL Grand Final win.

He retired in 2019 due to a shoulder injury, and devoted his talents to coaching instead.

After spending two years coaching in Australia, the former prop has been welcomed with open arms by the Warrington Wolves.
