A man has been found lying on a suburban street with a gunshot wound to his leg in Melbourne’s west.
Melton residents living nearby Raleigh Rd and Leicester Crescent were woken to screams on Sunday morning just before 9am.
A man wearing a grey tracksuit was lying on the road surrounded by a pool of blood and an apparent gunshot wound to his leg.
While waiting for emergency services, a person comforted the injured man who appeared to be writhing in pain.
He was treated by emergency services and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
While investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s injury, police seized a gun found abandoned nearby.
Police believe the man crashed his car at the intersection before he was found.
A man was arrested in connection to the incident near Wolfe Rd on Sunday afternoon, and police said he was assisting with their inquiries.
They attended a nearby property to conduct a search.
An armoured vehicle was observed outside the residence.
