Man extradited and charged with murder of Jamie Goodsworth

The 24-year-old was located in Surfers Paradise before being extradited and charged in connection with the murder of Jamie Goodsworth earlier this year.

Police have extradited and charged a man over the alleged murder of Jamie Goodworth in western Sydney earlier this year.

It’s alleged Mr Goodworth, 32, was shot after attempting an aggravated break and enter of a property on Flack Close in Edensor Park, western Sydney on Saturday, February 24 this year.

The 32-year-old was left out the front of Liverpool Hospital about 1.20am, and despite efforts from medical staff, Mr Goodsworth was unable to be revived and pronounced dead a short time later.

State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad detectives established Strike Force Heye to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. After extensive equities that spanned months, detectives executed search warrants in Bonnyrigg and Leppington in NSW. Two further search warrants in Surfers Paradise and Hawthorne, Queensland, were also executed.

During the searches, police located and seized cash, electronics and various documentation relevant to the investigation.

On Wednesday October 23, while searching the Surfers Paradise address, police located and arrested a 24-year-old man.

The man appeared at Brisbane Magistrates Court the same day, where Homicide Squads successfully granted his extradition to Sydney.

About 3pm Wednesday, the 24-year-old was escorted by officers through Sydney Airport and to Mascot Police Station, where he was charged with murder.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.
