Chilling footage has captured the moment housemates were allegedly held hostage and robbed by three males armed with a sword, baseball bat and a metal pipe.
The incident happened at an Adelaide home on Sunday.
One of the residents said he felt like a hostage as the trio ransacked the house, making off with a credit card and car keys.
“They said ‘I’ll hurt you, I’ll beat you, I’ll kill you’ and all that,” one resident told reporters.
“I thought they were murdering me … it’s a hostage situation, because you can’t do anything, there’s a sword, there’s a bat.”
The burglars broke into the inner northeast home early on Sunday, in the suburb of Lightsview.
A home security camera in the loungeroom captured the armed intruders marching the housemates upstairs, as they demanded gold and other valuables.
The men were all dressed in head-to-toe black and navy blue outfits, including balaclavas and gloves. One of them wore a white hat, another’s hoodie was pulled up and the third wore a black cap.
The sword which one burglar wielded was about 50 or 60cm long, with a stylised handle.
After searching the rooms, the burglars notice a security camera has been filming them, and they switch off the device.
The ordeal lasted about 30 minutes, before the burglars fled via the backdoor which they originally broke in through.
Police continue to investigate.
