Bonza confirms Territorians are set for Gold Coast flights

The airline has been given the ‘green light’ for flights between the Top End and Gold Coast.

The ‘glitter strip’ is back on the table for Territorians after Bonza received the green light for flights between Darwin and the Gold Coast.

In November, Bonza flights from Gold Coast to Darwin had been cancelled just hours before takeoff, with Bonza chief executive Tim Jordan forced to explain the situation.

“As we’ve previously shared our Gold Coast base is due to be operated by our partner Flair in the short term whilst we recruit Aussie crew for our third base,” Mr Jordan said at the time.

“This arrangement brings with it separate regulatory approval process with CASA.”

On Tuesday, however, the airline confirmed two additional aircraft had been given regulatory approval and the Top End route would commence from January 2, 2024.

“We know it’s been a challenging time for some of our customers who were unable to fly and to them we say we’re really sorry and we’ll learn from this and do better to deliver for Australia,” he said.

“Now that we have approval for the two additional aircraft we’re scaling up our operations and servicing our new routes from our Gold Coast base.”

To mark the milestone, Bonza has offered Territorians 30 per cent off flights to and from the Gold Coast from January 2-31, 2024.

Bonza confirmed travellers could book on the Fly Bonza app using the promo GOLDIE until Thursday, December 21, 2023.

“This is our way of acknowledging we could have done better and also shouting from the rooftops that Bonza is back.”
