A new theory has emerged in the case of missing man Ben Chisholm as his mysterious disappearance on Magnetic Island continues to baffle detectives after weeks of searching.
The 22-year-old has been missing since Wednesday, 13 July, in Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island, where he was last seen walking towards the Arcadia walking trails.
The bushland search for Mr Chisholm on the island was recently scaled back after a fortnight of tireless searching by police, State Emergency Service volunteers and others.
However, Mr Chisholm’s family and friends have vowed not to give up hope as the desperate search for him continues.
They are now calling on island locals to keep an eye on the bays for the missing man after new information recently emerged that a yellow poly craft tender boat went missing from Horseshoe Bay the same day he went missing.
Friends believe it’s possible Mr Chisholm, who was last seen near the Arcadia walking trails, could have walked from there to Horseshoe Bay and taken the boat, which is still missing.
Mr Chisholm’s aunt said the search for Ben was moving around Horseshoe Bay, Lovers Bay, and Radical Bay on Thursday.
“The bush area where Bens’s clothes were found has been searched, and Nelly Bay has been a big search area, and it has been covered around the area Ben lives,” she said.
“They now need to go to the hard-to-get places.”
“The local islanders who live on the island have been doing searches on jetskis and in boats, but he may have been missed we must always keep looking.”
Mr Chisholm has not been in contact with his family since Wednesday, July 13.
The behaviour is considered out of character by those close to him, and his family have expressed concerns for his wellbeing.
Ben is described as caucasian in appearance, about 170cm tall, medium build and long, light-brown hair.
He was dressed in shorts and a dark green long-sleeved pullover. Investigators urge Ben, or anyone with information about his whereabouts, to contact police.
