A Barwon inmate hid a bag of faeces inside his prison uniform, which exploded in a guard’s mouth, eyes and nose.
Tyron McGinnes, 23, pleaded guilty to assault charges in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
On June 1 last year, McGinnes was being transported from his cell in solitary confinement by two Barwon officers.
He kicked the doorstop of another cell, and slipped a notepad underneath the door of another isolated prisoner.
The two guards then attempted to detain McGinnes for this act.
One guard tackled him before being blasted with urine and faeces.
McGinnes had tucked the bag of excrement in his clothes, which exploded on impact when he was tackled by the officer.
The officer had to have his eyes, mouth and nose flushed after the incident.
The other officer was able to avoid the faeces bomb.
McGinnes is currently two years through a four-year and 11-month sentence for a five-day crime spree around Ballarat, during which he held a gun to the head of his own cousin.
He was sentenced to another three months in jail, two to be served concurrently with the existing sentence, for the assault charges.
