Baby boom: Dubbo’s Taronga Western Plains Zoo overrun with baby animals

Rajah the rhino was born weighing a whopping 40kg — and he’s been growing rapidly ever since.
He’s just one adorable new arrival at Dubbo’s Taronga Western Plains Zoo, currently in the midst of a baby boom.
Its had 16 new bundles of joy in the past year.
The list includes four baby giraffes, nine African wild dog pups and three rhino calves.
Zoo keeper Jackie Stuart said the youngsters enjoyed playtime and were developing their own personalities.
Rajah, whose name means ‘Prince’, is the first Greater one-horned rhino to be born in Australia.
There are only 2700 of the species left in the wild.
One day he’ll grow to about 2000kg.
“Rajah is doing extremely well and gaining weight rapidly, still suckling from his mother’s milk,” Ms Stuart said.
