Ayr unit fire: Middle-aged woman suffers smoke inhalation in kitchen blaze

Firefighters have responded to a reported structure fire in Ayr in the Burdekin.

Queensland Fire Department confirmed it had responded to reports of a house fire on Edwards St, the Bruce Highway, in the middle of the Burdekin town at 4.17pm on Monday.

A QFD spokeswoman said a kitchen fire had been reported in two of two attached, single level units.

Two fire crews responded to the incident.

Initial reports from the scene were that a middle-aged woman had suffered smoke inhalation.

Queensland Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
