After conquering the Great Wall of China, Carrie Bickmore is headed to the South African jungle.

The popular radio and television presenter has committed to a half marathon at this year’s The Big Five Marathon through the Entabeni private game reserve next month.

The big five of course are the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo.

“I figure it will make me run fast, that is for sure,” Bickmore told The Daily Telegraph ahead of sitting front row at the Aje runway show at Australian Fashion Week.

“Last year they had to delay the start of the race because there was a lion roaming around. I’ve decided not to read up too much about it because I’ve decided if I read about it, I won’t go. I’m just going to go there with my eyes closed and open them at the startline and see what happens.”

Runners will be watched by helicopters and armed rangers to ensure participant safety.

Bickmore will be joined by a crew of her celebrity mates as they attempt to raise money for her Carries Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation that she set up a decade ago following the untimely death of her late husband.

To date, the foundation has raised more than $24 million.

Among those also taking part are Laura Enever, Trent Cotchin, Eilidy Pullin, Merrick Watts, Olivia Molly Rogers and Sam Wood.

The group aims to raise “a couple of hundred thousand” dollars.

“We are all doing it together,” she said, having last year run the Great Wall of China to raise funds for the foundation.

“I think this will be my last run. My body doesn’t ... I am not good at it, like, I am terrible at it and my body doesn’t like it, having had three kids. It is a mental game.”
