A charity drive in NSW is set to benefit the Red Centre, after a whopping $75,000 was raised – which will go toward local community initiatives.

More than 100 people attended the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour for the third annual Anangu Communities Foundation fundraiser, administered by Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia.

Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia chief executive Matt Cameron-Smith said the Anangu were the traditional custodians of Uluru.

“We’re deeply respectful of our close connection with Anangu – the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate at Ayers Rock Resort,” he said.

“Because of this support, we’re able to continue to empower Anangu through important projects like the NPY Women’s Council’s Uti Kulintjaku.”

Mr Cameron-Smith said the Anangu Communities Foundation had some big plans for 2025 – such as extending their plans with the Adelaide Crows Foundation “Crows on Country” program.

“The STEM footy program transforms kids’ passion for footy into hands-on classroom learning on concepts like speed, velocity, angles and trajectory,” he said.
