All the action on and off the floor from Geelong United’s opening WNBL match

Some of the city’s youngest basketball fans got to know their new heroes as Geelong United made its WNBL debut at the arena on Wednesday night.

It was a historic night at Geelong Arena as the city’s new WNBL team took on Townsville Fire.

Hundreds of young fans met their new heroes as Geelong United made their league debut in Round 1.

While the home team didn’t come away with the win – going down to the Fire by 26 points – they surely won a horde of new supporters as the 2024-25 season kicks off.

See all the photos on and off the court as more than 1100 United fans supported their team and a new chapter in Geelong basketball history officially began.
