The federal government has granted $8.5m to the Red Centre’s tourism sector, a move it hopes will “revitalise” and “reinvigorate” the region’s troubled travel economy.

The funding includes $5m for Tourism Central Australia to lead a targeted attraction campaign aimed at bringing visitors back; $2.5m to establish an Alice Springs Tourism Development Fund; and $1m in Revival and Resilience Grants to help small boutique tourism operators stay open and operational.
