November 21, 4pm: A 25-year-old Willowra man has been arrested in the Red Centre and charged with multiple domestic violence offences.

Northern Territory police said the man was arrested “without incident” in Ti-Tree on Wednesday.

Police said he was identified as an alleged domestic violence offender through investigations by detectives in Tennant Creek.

He was due to face the Alice Springs Local Court on Thursday.

He is facing seven charges of aggravated assault, two charges of recklessly endangering causing serious harm, two charges of going armed in public, four charges of breaching a domestic violence order, and three counts of being armed with an offensive weapon at night.

His also is facing a single charge of choking/strangling/suffocating, and a single charge of making a threat to kill.

Detective Sergeant Nicholas George said police were dedicated to combating domestic violence on all fronts.

“Domestic violence is a scourge on our society,” he said.

Cornered teenagers in stolen car pelt rocks at cops in Alice Springs

November 20, 8am: Four boys have been arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle and throwing rocks at police officers in Alice Springs.

About 3.30pm Tuesday, tourists at Emily Gap reported their vehicle had been stolen.

At 11pm, Alice Springs police located the vehicle at an East Side residential estate and cordoned off the area.

The occupants of the vehicle drove past police, allegedly throwing rocks at the officers while on the move.

Police pursued the stolen vehicle before it was abandoned by its occupants, triggering a foot chase.

A short time later, police arrested four boys aged 12, 13, 14 and 16.

All four boys are currently being held in the watch house and will face youth court on Wednesday.

Alice Springs police also reported there were six reported unlawful entries overnight.

Four properties broken into, two cars stolen in Alice Springs

November 19, 7am: Police responded to four property break-ins overnight in Alice Springs, with two stolen vehicles also used by offenders to joyride through the CBD.

On Tuesday morning, a police spokesman said two properties were broken into in Larapinta, one in Sadadeen and one in Araluen.

When the offenders broke into the Araluen property, they stole a pair of vehicles in the process.

NT Police reported both vehicles were being driven around the CBD in a reckless manner, including burnouts.

One of the vehicles was recovered in the Gillen area later in the night.The other vehicle, a white Nissan Navara, remains unaccounted for.

No arrests have been made in relation to the offences.

November 18, 4pm: Witnesses have praised those who stopped to help out after a car crashed into a politician’s office in the Red Centre.

At 12.35pm on Monday, a red Jeep crashed into Braitling MLA Josh Burgoyne's office on the Hartley St and Gregory Tce roundabout in Alice Springs.

This masthead understands Mr Burgoyne’s office was empty at the time.

Witnesses to the crash said the car was driven by a man who appeared to have a medical episode.

The witness said the vehicle drove through the roundabout outside Mr Burgoyne’s office, knocking over numerous posts, before crashing into the office.

One witness, who was driving at the time, said he saw the vehicle behind him approaching at speed as he was turning off of Gregory Tce onto Hartley St.

Another witness praised the multiple people stopped and assisted the man, who were assisting the man out of the vehicle and made sure he was OK.

By 1.45pm the vehicle was already removed.

Northern Territory police said no injuries were reported.

“The driver returned a negative result for drugs or alcohol and was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital for assessment,” police said.

“At this stage, police believe the driver experienced a medical episode.”

Tennant Creek Crime: Police make arrests over Schmidt St break-in, car stolen at pool

November 18, 12pm: A stolen vehicle has been recovered after it sustained “significant damage”, Tennant Creek police say – as they also search for three youths allegedly involved in an unrelated break-in.

Police said four of the offenders – three 15-year-olds and a 13-year-old – have been arrested in connection with the alleged break-in on Schmidt St on Saturday, while three allegedly involved are outstanding.

Each of the three charged will appear in court at a later date, all facing charges of aggravated burglary, trespass and criminal damage.

Police are urging anyone with information on the Schmidt St break-in to get in touch on 131 444, quoting reference NTP2400115999.

In an unrelated incident, which also occurred on Saturday, police said two youths were dealt with under the Youth Justice Act 2005 in relation to a car which was stolen from the Tennant Creek pool.

Police said the car was stolen at 7am after the youth “jumped the fence at a public swimming pool and stole keys to a vehicle parked onsite”.

“The offender allegedly stole the vehicle, picked up a 14-year-old female nearby, and the pair drove dangerously through Tennant Creek for a short period of time,” police said.

Police said the vehicle was recovered, but “sustained significant damage”.

Six Alice Springs properties broken into in 24 hours

November 18, 7am: Six Alice Springs properties have been broken into in the last 24 hours, including two cars being stolen, police say.

On Monday morning, an NT Police spokesman said there had been three break-ins at The Gap, two in East Side and one in Gillen.

One of the East Side break-ins, which occurred about 6.45pm, resulted in the theft of an NT Government vehicle.

NT Police recognised the stolen vehicle a short time later and attempted to engage it.

The government vehicle was eventually recovered about 1am in the suburb of Sadadeen.

A second vehicle was stolen at a property at The Gap, after the side door of a home was removed about 5.10am while the occupants were at home.

The vehicle, a Nissan Pulsar, remains outstanding.

No arrests have been reported as at 8.45am Monday morning.
