Geelong star defender Tom Stewart has taken out the inaugural Addy Fans MVP vote, winning by a landslide after the Cats’ season came to an end on Saturday.
The Cats vice-captain topped round 24’s voting to push his lead out to 33 votes, more than double the second-placed Tom Atkins, and his total to 65 votes.
Stewart averaged 23.1 disposals per game, as well as 8.3 marks and 7.2 rebound 50s, in 22 games across the course of the season, which was enough to earn his fifth All Australian blazer in just seven seasons in the AFL.
Atkins jumped Gryan Miers for second place in the fans’ voting, having polled three in the final game to jump the half forward who enjoyed a career-best season.
The inside midfielder 19.4 disposals per contest, as well as 7.6 tackles, five clearances and 10.4 contested possessions across 23 games this season.
Miers broke the goal assist records in 2023, passing Jason Akermanis and finishing on 41 for the season, while also recording career-best numbers for disposals (19 per game), tackles (2.9), inside 50s (4.3), clearances (1.8), contested possessions (6.1) and contested marks (0.2).
The half forward missed out on selection in the All Australian squad despite earning the reputation as the best true half forward flanker in the game this season and earning league-wide recognition for his year.
Star forward Jeremy Cameron finished fourth on 28 votes and skipper Patrick Dangerfield rounded out the top 5 with 24 votes.
